Avoiding Game of Thrones or Avengers: Endgame spoilers effectively requires ninja-level skills.
Like the reflexes to throw your phone across the room when you accidentally scroll through Facebook before watching the episode/film, and see the beginning of a ‘spoiler’ headline.
Oh, and spoiler alert – if you haven’t seen the latest Game of Thrones episode you might want to avoid this 40-minute doccie on the third episode of season eight.
One way to avoid spoilers is – and this one should be obvious – to stay away from social media until you watch what needs to be watched. If, like me, you have to use the social network for work, here’s the Telegraph with some tips on how to stay safe.
- Block Twitter Hashtags – mute them by going to ‘settings’, clicking ‘privacy and safety’, scroll down to muted words, press the + icon and add the words you want to mute.
- Add the extension ‘video blocker’ to Google Chrome to block videos from channels you don’t want to see. You can also add keywords that will block video titles and block out comments using the keywords.
- If you are worried about seeing a news story that gives away the fate of your favourite character, you can also add browser extensions, such as Spoiler Protection 2.0, that block certain keywords from your searches.
Finally, here are some wise words from Trevor Noah, who will come at you hard if you’re trying to ruin the surprise for other people:
Same applies to Game of Thrones.
