In a best-case scenario, a mugger gets nabbed by police and ends up being taken away in the back of a van.
All too often, that doesn’t happen, but at least there’s a little sting in the tail of this mugging that took place in Parkview, Johannesburg, on Wednesday last week.
Rather than letting the thief get away with his crime, a woman who was robbed at knifepoint decided to fight back.
Over to TimesLIVE:
The woman, who has asked to remain anonymous, said she had just climbed out of an Uber and was waiting outside her sister’s home when a man pulled up on a motorbike. He ran towards her, wielding a switchblade, and demanded her phone…
The woman was unharmed and hopes the footage will inspire others to reject victimhood and act with courage.
She certainly displayed a fair amount of courage when she went chasing after her assailant, managing to grab her handbag back as he zoomed off:
It’s just a pity that we don’t have any video footage from when the thief realised his loot had been nicked back.
