007 is back for his 25th outing in Bond 25.
Filming on the newest Bond film will start on Sunday after a series of delays.
In the meantime, the cast has been announced, including Oscar winner Rami Malek as the villain opposite star Daniel Craig.
Phoebe Waller-Bridge, creator of the TV shows Fleabag and Killing Eve, will be one of the film’s credited writers, so that’s a huge plus.
This will make her the second woman ever to be credited as a writer on a Bond film – the first being Johanna Harwood, who helped write the first and second Bond movies, Dr. No and From Russia with Love.
Here’s Huffington Post with more:
The new film will be directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga, director of the first season of HBO’s “True Detective.” Fukunaga replaced Oscar-winning director Danny Boyle, who dropped out in August, citing “creative differences.”
Craig, who has starred in four previous Bond movies, had reportedly planned to exit the franchise after 2015′s “Spectre.” But in 2017, he announced that the new film would be his last, after denying a rumor that he had been offered as much as $150 million to return for two more Bond installments.
The plot, as far as we know, starts with a retired James Bond living his best life in Jamaica until his old friend Felix from the CIA turns up asking for help.
The Bond girls will be played by Ana de Armas, 30, of Blade Runner 2049 fame, and Lashana Lynch, who played Maria Rambeau in Captain Marvel.
Here’s Craig talking about the appeal of the Bond franchise:
Rami Malek couldn’t be at the Q&A above, so he sent a video along for the cast and crew:
