White, black, poor, rich – it really doesn’t matter, because Ace Magashule isn’t going to save you.
In fact, he’s at the heart of the factional battle within the ANC itself, leading the pro-Zuma cadres as they plot to oust President Cyril Ramaphosa post-elections.
Call it a gangster state, or call it the ANC mafia – either way, the man is up to no good.
Somebody should tell the “residents from a mostly poor white community in Hermanus” that, because Ace brought them to tears with promises to secure their land.
TimesLIVE reports:
Magashule paid a visit to the former holiday resort, now home to dozens of families, while he was on the election campaign trail on Wednesday.
Many families face eviction after the Overstrand municipality sold the 22ha plot of land on which they were living to a private buyer.
The visit was almost foiled when Magashule’s entourage was denied access to the park by security guards, who had locked the gate. The police were called to intervene and ANC supporters eventually made their way inside to speak to residents.
Speaking to sobbing residents Magashule claimed the DA were “worse racists, removing white people from where they have been”.
I’m sure he sounded very authentic whilst saying that. Actually, let’s just see him in action:

When you’re desperate, you’ll believe just about anything.
If you can stomach it, here’s a third video:
How do we know Ace is talking complete and utter bollocks? Well, let’s check in with the Daily Maverick and their coverage of Pieter-Louis Myburgh’s book, Gangster State: Unravelling Ace Magashule’s web of capture:
The book exposes for the first time how Magashule and his cronies “benefited from a R1 billion spending frenzy that left in its wake hundreds of unfinished or poorly constructed RDP houses”, as a result of a Free State Development of Human Settlements scandal dating from 2010…
The main beneficiary of another fraudulent project, to build a fully serviced neighbourhood on the outskirts of Bethlehem, was Magashule’s daughter Thoko Malembe.
Writes Myburgh: “While [Magashule’s] daughter’s company made millions, these people are now left with substandard houses and no water, flushing toilets or electricity”.
That’s not to mention the infamous Vrede dairy project, which screwed over thousands of people and led to the murder of one of the whistleblowers, Philemon Ngwenya.
In short, when Ace Magashule tells you he’s going to look out for your best interests, you can save the tears.
