The boys in green and gold are headed to Japan for the World Cup towards the end of the year, and now we know what jersey they will be donning.
Earlier today, the jersey was officially launched, after gruelling tests involving “more than 10 samples with 30 different fabrics” nailed down exactly what it is the players were after.
According to Sport24, the players don’t want to be restricted by anything en route to feeling “Unstoppable”.
We’re sure talking a good game, with the key features of the new jersey including:
I assume the grip print was designed with Damian de Allende in mind.
We can only hope that Owen Farrell’s jersey also has an “underarm gusset strategically placed for the mobility of arms”.
Let’s get in close:
Jurie Roux, CEO of SA Rugby, is pretty happy with the final product:
“It’s a momentous year as the Springboks aim to win our third World Cup in Japan…
Every little detail counts…making this the most advanced jersey for the Boks to wear in Japan and support them in their quest to hit their goal.”
Inspiration has been drawn from the iconic 1995 World Cup winning jersey, with a focus on the more traditional colour scheme, so here’s hoping Siya and the guys can channel some of that vibe.
Ag, you know, we may as well just watch this again:
Never gets old.
