Since the Mars landing, the idea that we might live on the red planet one day doesn’t seem that far fetched.
Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos both have grand plans for sustaining life on Mars – when they aren’t trolling each other on Twitter.
Musk’s SpaceX Crew Dragon capsule also automatically docked to a port on the International Space Station (ISS) recently, bringing us one step closer to space tourism.
In Jinchang, China, you can actually train for life on the red planet at the C-Space Project Mars simulation base, reports BuzzFeed News.
Located in the windswept desolation of the Gobi Desert, the C-Space Project Mars simulation base is one of the first of its kind — a compound designed to accurately replicate the conditions of a crewed mission to Mars. And in one of China’s most impoverished regions, the facility may also break new ground as a lucrative tourism industry sets its eyes on the stars.
The compound is kitted out with mock decompression chambers, space suits, living modules, greenhouses, and even a replica of the black monolith featured in the 1968 film 2001: A Space Odyssey.

At the moment, the training centre is mostly visited by students, but the Astronauts Centre of China will eventually use the facility as an astronaut-training facility to prepare for an actual journey to the red planet.
Very cool.
