Dang, it’s tough being Lenny Kravitz.
When he’s not strolling around the US with an oversized scarf around his neck, he likes to kick back and relax on his farm in Brazil, set deep in the forest and away from prying eyes.
In a new feature for Architectural Digest, the 54-year-old musician allowed the cameras inside for a look around what was once an 18th-century coffee plantation outside Rio de Janeiro.
It’s fair to say he’s rather chuffed with what he’s managed to put together:
…he purchased the nearly 1,000-acre spread that had ensorcelled him so completely, determined to maintain the farm’s operations while creating a personal retreat for family, friends, and collaborators, where art and nature could exist in perfect harmony. Kravitz describes it as “a place to unplug, reset your life, and take the time to be quiet and actually hear yourself.”
You can read the full interview, complete with snaps, here, but we’ll just stick with the video for now:
OK, we can’t part ways without digesting this gem from the interview:
The end result of his ministrations is a vibe that bounces happily between earthy organic and crazysexycool. But for Kravitz, the ongoing renovation is less about newfangled aesthetics than preserving the spiritual energy of his remote oasis: “This farm, this land, they have a life force all their own. You can’t fake that with design.”
‘Crazysexycool’ is one word now.
Namaste.
