Some hippy in the 60s said something about letting the children lead the way.

He might have been on to something.

Jacob Zuma took a break from swimming in his fire pool and hanging out with his daughter to hit the campaign trail in eSikhaleni in northern KwaZulu-Natal.

His door-to-door visits took him past a local crèche where he was snubbed by a toddler.

The little girl, who could not have been more than two years old, from Zikhuliseleni Crèche was encouraged to go forward and greet Zuma while her fellow pupils chanted “ANC” in the background.

Zuma greeted her and asked “Where is this pretty little girl from?”. However the toddler was not buying Zuma’s election charm and ignored him as he held out his hand.

Then she did this:

Smart kid. I’d put a gate between myself and Zuma as well.

We could learn a lot from her.
