Some celeb meltdowns are hard to watch, and others give you a warm feeling inside.
Following R. Kelly’s disastrous interview with Gayle King (watch that here, and the Saturday Night Live parody here), it has become clear that the disgraced musician is feeling the strain.
He’s awaiting his next court date on charges of criminal sex abuse, but somehow he still managed to book a gig at the Dirty South Lounge in Springfield, Illinois.
Those in attendance paid between $50 and $100 for what ended up being a 28-second performance.
Before you’re mean about him, though, remember that he asked us all to be understanding of his current situation:

Sorry, pal, just checked my notes and you’re still a giant piece of human excrement.
Here’s an account from local news affiliate, News20:
R. Kelly arrived at Dirty South Lounge at 1:30 a.m.
There was an $100 entrance fee and it was reduced to $50 once R. Kelly arrived.
The singer spent about 35 minutes taking selfies, chatting, dancing and smoking cigars with fans…There were approximately 100 people in the lounge. The lounge capacity is 450.
R. Kelly got on the microphone and thanked supporters and sang a line from his song for 28 seconds.
The bar closed at 3.a.m.
Assuming that all 100 people paid either $50 or $100 (we’ll call it an average of $75), your man made a whopping $7 500.
OK, so there was a meet-and-greet element to it, but couldn’t he have mustered more than 28 seconds for his fans?
Here’s hoping the meltdown escalates with that court date looming large.
