The recurring scandal – if you can call it that – in the royal family has centred on Meghan, Harry, and their desire to live lives semi-independent to the rest of the royals.
In other words, they wanted their own place, instead of living with everyone else at Kensington Palace.
Fair enough. They’re grown-ass people starting a family.
Their latest bid for independence, however, has a lot of people very excited – two million people or so, and the numbers are growing.
They’ve left the Kensington Palace Instagram account and started their own.
Here’s Harpers Bazaar:
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have launched their own official Instagram page today with the handle @SussexRoyal. So far, there is only one post on the account: a slideshow of 10 highlights from the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s royal work.
The couple left a sweet note in the caption: “‘Welcome to our official Instagram; we look forward to sharing the work that drives us, the causes we support, important announcements, and the opportunity to shine a light on key issues. We thank you for your support, and welcome you to @sussexroyal.’- Harry & Meghan”
As mentioned earlier, at the time of writing the page already has more than two million followers, putting every other Insta-influencer to shame.
If they have the ability to experience shame… the jury’s out on that one.
You can check out the royal slideshow here:
By the look of things, if you want to keep up with what Meghan and Harry are up to, you’ll have to follow them directly.
@KensingtonRoyal has changed its profile photo to a portrait of the Cambridge family and removed the Sussexes from its official bio on both Twitter and Instagram. That means we can expect all further official updates on Harry and Meghan to come from @SussexRoyal from now on. (An official Twitter account under the name has not yet been revealed.)
The independent Twitter account will probably follow shortly.
Okay, that’s everything you needed to know.
