Winter in Cape Town means dodging the mangled carcasses of umbrellas that fought the wind and lost.

We get some pretty extreme winds here, and a special shout-out to the people of Vredehoek for their battle against the breeze,

They aren’t, however, as extreme as the winds that accompanied a passing storm in Turkey recently.

CNN reports that CCTV footage captured one man, whose attempts to keep his umbrella grounded resulted in him soaring off into the air.
