Natalie Portman is back in a film that explores one of the rarest human experiences – seeing the vastness of space and the universe and then returning to earth.
In Lucy In The Sky, Portman plays Lucy, an astronaut who struggles with the everyday mundane after the “vast celestial everything” that lies beyond the atmosphere.
It must be weird to float in infinite space and then have to worry about grocery shopping.
Here’s Mashable:
“I just feel a little off,” she narrates in the trailer. “You go up there and you see the whole universe, and everything here looks so small.”
Directed by Legion’s Noah Hawley, Lucy teases sci-fi and surrealism as Lucy grapples with her mundane reality…
…She finds comfort in fellow astronaut Mark (Jon Hamm) when her husband Drew (Dan Stevens) can’t relate to what they experienced. The film also stars Zazie Beetz, Pearl Amanda Dickson, and Ellen Burstyn.
Check out the trailer:
The film is loosely based on real-life astronaut Lisa Nowak, who was arrested on charges of battery, kidnapping and theft after returning from missions on Discovery and the International Space Station.
Sounds compelling, but I’m still watching the Apollo 11 doccie before delving into this.
Lucy In The Sky will premiere later in 2019.
