Like most people who can’t afford to fly business class, it’s on my bucket list.
Who wouldn’t want to have leg room and a comfortable sleeping spot on a long flight?
Instead, most of us have to battle tiny seats and inconsiderate co-passengers. Nobody wants to see the 15 pictures of your grandchild, Brenda.
For those who can afford it, British Airways has unveiled its new business class seat, which will be upgrading on all A350 flights from October 2019.
BusinessInsider reports that the new suites, under the Club Suite brand, form part of British Airways’ R124 billion investment to improve the airline.
It reduces the other 2-4-2 seating pattern for a 1-2-1 pattern, that features privacy cubicles that can be closed or opened up to the passenger’s desires.
It has more storage room, an entertainment system (including an 18.5 inch HD screen and WiFi) and the seat can recline into 183cm x 54cm bed.
The new seats will first be available in short-haul flights on A350 aircraft on the London-Madrid route. From October 2019, they will launch on long-haul flights.
According to the airline, three A350 aircraft will join the fleet with the new class, while two Boeing 777 aircraft will be retrofitted.
Initially, these new seats will replace First Class on the A350s, but a new First Class range may be added in the future. Economy and Premium Economy classes are also due to be enhanced.
Judging from the above images, they look pretty comfy, but how do they compare to some of the other top airlines?
In the 2018 Skytrax rankings, Qatar Airways was ranked as the number one business class airline in the world, with the number one business class seating.
This was followed by Singapore Airlines, Etihad Airways, Japans Airlines and China Airlines.
Let’s take a look:

This one makes me happy:

Flying business class on SAA could be tricky if things keep going the way they are for the airline. Also, they recently uncovered a pilot who had been flying without a license for the last 20 years, so that’s comforting.
On the upside, there’s another way to use your SAA Voyager miles.
Moving on from the depressing stuff, just take a look at the above pics again so that you can dream about legroom, while Brenda moves on to the pictures of her sausage dogs.
