Sometimes, in the grander scheme of things, the scoreboard really isn’t all that important.
Case in point was last night’s Varsity Cup match between Wits and UCT. The Jozi outfit secured a thrilling 30-29 victory, but it’s the post-match interview with Wits wing Bin Kasende Kapepula, and skipper Constant Beckerling, that will live long in the memory.
After securing the ‘Player That Rocks’ title, a clearly emotional Kapepula spoke about the loss of his girlfriend, Christine Osborne.
Beckerling, who went viral for an interview he gave during last year’s competition, then enters the fray, and it’s clear that there’s a pretty special bond amongst the Wits players.
Over to Kapepula and Beckerling:
Wits may sit seventh on the Varsity Cup log, with two wins and four losses, but you’d reckon that the bond they’ve formed will last a lifetime.
