There are a lot of stupid conspiracy theories out there, but few are as ludicrous as the one advanced by the Flat Earth movement.
The really crazy thing is that the number of people who believe in this silliness is growing.
If you’ve managed to stay away from the madness, you can catch up on the Flat Earth phenomenon here, here and here.
Recently, a bunch of these people met at the Flat Earth International Conference in Denver to talk about the long-awaited expedition to find the “edge of the earth”.
YouTube star Logan Paul was there to give a talk and show his support, and express his desire to seek out “the edge”, reports Forbes.
“When we look at Antarctica if you take a globe and you squish it down, the Antarctic would go all the way around the Earth. It’s kind of like an ice shore and its very very large. It’s not like you just go there, and you can just peek over it. We don’t believe anything can fall off the edge, because a big portion of the flat earth community believe that we’re in a dome, like a snow globe. So the sun, moon, and stars are all inside. It’s very high but all contained inside. So there’s no way to actually fall off of the earth.”
Just because you believe it, doesn’t mean it’s true.
You can check out this doccie if you want more info on how these folks drew the above conclusions:
If anyone else got stuck on the phrase “we’ve got songs!” then I’ve got you covered. I found one for you:
Logan Paul plans on releasing a documentary called The Flat Earth: to the Edge and Back premiering March 20.
Here’s the trailer:
The move to organise an expedition to Antarctica has come about in an attempt to get the “proof” necessary to show the rest of the world that we’ve been living a lie.
According to Flat Earther Jay Decasby, who is in development for a reality television series about the subject, “All we have to do to shut this debate down once and for all is get the distance of the coast of Antarctica.
…If we can get to the coast of Antarctica and sail all the way around it, we will get the distance that will prove it’s the outer edges of flat earth and refute entirely every single argument anyone can possibly try to pitch for the sun-worshipping cult of heliocentrism.”
Personally, I’m looking forward to that expedition.
They’re going to feel very silly when it’s all done.
