As we move into autumn, the weather is changing the way we socialise.
Rather than beachside drinks, I’m finding it easier to host a couple of friends at my place for dinner. Let’s get real, it’s also cheaper than a night out.
When it comes to putting a menu together, I can usually rustle up a decent starter and main. Desserts, on the other hand, are not in my skill set – unless we’re talking store-bought ice cream and Woolies chocolate sauce, which doesn’t exactly scream sophistication.
I went hunting for something with a little more class, and found some interesting options on the Sir Fruit website.
Seth has already flipped out over the braai ribbetjies recipe, but let’s stick to the dessert mandate.
In particular, I was thrilled to find the recipe for ‘Delectably Decadent Guava Cheesecake Milkshake’.
It’s different, delicious, and makes a nice change from the standard desserts.
The real zinger? It’s damn easy to make, and I can appear sophisticated without much hassle.
To start, here’s what you need:
Tick, and now we check on what to do:
Yeah, that’s it- your Cheesecake Milkshake is ready to wow your guests.
If you didn’t actually invite anybody over, and are just living the good life yourself, we salute you.
Pro-tip: sprinkle a layer of crumbled biscuits into the milkshake to bring all the boys to the yard.
If you really want to deliver on the presentation aspect, serve it in a mason jar to up the trendy, hipster factor.
The main ingredient in the milkshake is, of course, guava juice. More specifically, Sir Fruit guava juice, which is part of their range of fresh, nutrient-rich fruit juices.
Also in their range? Cold-pressed juices that’ll boost your vitamin intake, and a series of low sugar ice teas that provide the perfect alternative to those near-toxic fizzy drinks.
Back to the guava cheesecake milkshake – you’re not only raising the game on after dinner deserts, but you’re also upping the healthiness of your dinner.
Guavas are packed full of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants such as vitamin C, riboflavin and thiamin. They also aid in healthy digestion making them the perfect post-dinner treat.
