Tesla cars make it easier to relax behind the wheel, but that doesn’t mean you can straight up take a nap while driving.
Seth Blake, a guitarist for the band Wage War, filmed a video earlier this week that attracted a great deal of attention, showing a man in a Tesla vehicle going at 120 km/h.
The problem is that he looks to be asleep, and even though he’s probably using the Autopilot feature, that’s not a good idea.
Here’s Business Insider SA:
…Autopilot, Tesla’s semi-autonomous driver-assistance system, can control functions such as steering, accelerating, and braking under some circumstances but requires the driver to be attentive and able to take control of the vehicle if needed…
Tesla says on its website that Autopilot requires “active driver supervision,” but the most visible accidents involving Autopilot have involved reports of distracted drivers. Tesla’s CEO, Elon Musk, has received criticism for using the feature with his hands off the wheelduring television interviews.
Is he using his hands to tweet? Because then that’s a double no-no.
Let’s see this guy, then. We should point out that Seth says his girlfriend filmed the video from the passenger seat, before the inevitable rant about being on the phone while driving:
Dude is straight snoozing going 75mph on the interstate, letting his @Tesla do the work. pic.twitter.com/RQD2LBSnGh

Hmm, I dunno.
If you look closely towards the end of the video, you can see the man’s head turn. Just looks to me like he zoned out for a bit, which is something most people do, even when they’re not in a Tesla.
Anybody else feeling like a nap now?
