When R. Kelly is locked up, and they throw him in with the general prison population, I’m going to pop bottles.
Sorry, but I will gladly revel in the misfortunes of a man who has spent decades abusing women as he sees fit.
Last week, Kelly handed himself in to authorities, although he couldn’t pay bail due to “mismanagement,” “hangers-on” and “bad deals”.
Luckily for him, a woman came forward and paid the $100 000 bail, and you would think the disgraced singer would keep a low profile.
Wrong, because he appeared on CBS Evening News and called the charges against him “stupid”, “not true”, and “not fair”. He is facing 10 charges of aggravated sexual abuse against four victims, three of whom were between the ages of 13 and 17 at the time of the alleged incidents.
Clearly, the man is not well in the head, with this from the Guardian:
…Kelly at times suggested the allegations against him were absurd, appealing to viewer’s “common sense”, and at other times said it was unfair to constantly return to his history. He emphasized that he had been acquitted in one case already…
“I don’t need to. Why would I?” Kelly said, echoing his lawyer’s previous argument that “he is a rock star. He doesn’t have to have non-consensual sex.”
That’s not how sexual abuse works, you complete fool.
Whilst the full interview will only air in the US later today, you can see some of the standout moments in this clip:
Every time I see an interview like this, I am reminded of the hundreds of similar interviews with Lance Armstrong, close to tears and vehemently denying any form of doping.
We all know how that ended.
When you resort to the ‘why would I do this’ angle, it suggests to me that you’re really out of ammo.
Let’s get this monster locked up.
