Meghan has returned to England following her celebrity-studded baby shower in New York, but the headlines have followed her home.
The final treat in her New York visit was a Gulfstream G450 private plane, chartered by George and Amal Clooney, for Meghan’s return trip.
Amal and twins Alexander and Ella accompanied Meghan back to Britain from the exclusive Teterboro private airport in New Jersey.
According to the Daily Mail, who are milking this for all its worth, the trip cost a pretty penny:
The Duchess of Sussex came back to Britain with Amal and her twins early this morning after the extravagant $500,000 (roughly R7 million) trip to the Big Apple where she partied for five nights with her celebrity friends.
Meghan landed at Farnborough Airport in Hampshire after a $250,000 (£200,000) round trip to America following a lavish baby shower thrown by Serena Williams, Jessica Mulroney, and one of the royal’s sorority sisters from Northwestern University.
That image above puts the total at $430 000 and change, but the general consensus is that it hit the $500 000 mark.
Naturally, Piers Morgan has weighed in with his opinion – which is never solicited, yet ever-present whenever a woman is in the spotlight.
Piers Morgan has predicted what Queen Elizabeth II would think of Meghan Markle’s New York baby shower this week, believed to have neared $500,000 in costs.
…His opinion was the opulent occasion ‘would not play well’ and would come across as ‘ostentatious’.
My instinctive reaction is always to immediately disagree with everything Piers Morgan says. Also, it’s not exactly a secret that Meghan Markle has made plenty of money in her own right, and hangs out with people who have plenty of money themselves.
That said, quite a few people on social media weren’t too thrilled with the spending, either:
In all honesty, “rich person spends money” isn’t exactly news. It’s also been suggested that Meghan’s friends paid for most of the shower.
Good? Bad? Make up your own mind.
