Meghan took a break from the tension and propriety of royal life to make a trip to her former home, New York City, for a baby shower with her friends.

The baby shower was attended by Serena Williams, Amal Clooney (below) and Jessica Mulroney, the Canadian stylist who is her best friend, at the extremely luxurious Mark Hotel on the Upper East, where Meghan stayed for the duration of her trip.

Jessica’s twins, Brian and John, aged eight, and daughter Isabel, aged five, acted as pages and bridesmaid at her wedding to Harry, reports the Daily Beast.

Meghan also had lunch with her friend, former Suits star Abigail Spencer, before the baby shower. After the shower, Meghan hit Polo restaurant on Fifth Avenue with Serena, Markus Anderson, Soho House’s global director of membership, and Jessica.

The baby shower properly kicked off with a flower arranging lesson, which explains the hundreds of pink roses that were delivered to the hotel earlier that day. There was also an extravagant dessert table prepared by the Michelin two-starred restaurant’s eponymous head chef, Jean-Georges Vongerichten.

So not your average baby shower.

I’m sure it was a welcome break from all the Royal drama.
