Karl Lagerfeld, the famous fashion designer known around the world, has died at the age of 85.
The BBC reports that he died in Paris, France:
The German designer, who was the creative director for Chanel, was one of the industry’s most prolific figures in the industry, and worked up until his death.
Lagerfeld also designed collections for his own brand and fashion house Fendi.
The designer had been unwell for several weeks, and had missed a number of fashion shows.
He was born Karl Otto Lagerfelt in 1933 in pre-war Germany.
During a January Chanel show in Paris, Lagerfeld didn’t speak with fashion fans after the show, which is the first time since 1983 that he had failed to do so, saying he was “tired”.

The cause of death has not been confirmed, however, it has been reported the fashionista had pancreatic cancer.
According to the Mail Online, a source said: “He hadn’t gone on about his illness, but battled it very bravely.
We featured some of his work as recently as October last year, when he collaborated on a new project with PUMA.
