A video surfaced last week showing a driver hitting a pedestrian while spinning his car, and then continuing to show off.
Despite potentially seriously injuring someone, both the man driving and the man filming the incident show no concern for the pedestrian.
In fact, the man filming seems to find it all funny.
According to TimesLIVE, no one knows if the driver of the vehicle subsequently checked on his victim. We also have no information about the condition of the victim.
Usually, we’d let you watch the video before commenting on the contents, but in this case, it’s best that you’re forewarned.
The video is disturbing:
I guess in Cape Town we have potentially deadly and high-speed street racing, and in Jozi, it’s spinning.
In a recent update on the events of last week, police have identified the owner of the vehicle. Again from TimesLIVE.
The vehicle was registered to a man in Vlakfontein. He will now be brought to court to answer to charges of reckless and negligent driving.
The JMPD said in a statement the owner had professed innocence and said he was not driving the vehicle at the time. However, under the Road Traffic Management Act, he will be held liable. It is incumbent on him to name the driver if he wishes to avert criminal prosecution.
The person who filmed the incident has also been asked to come forward.
Both the driver and the person filming clearly display the worst kind of callousness and a serious lack of basic human decency.
