Sometimes you just need to treat yourself and buy a private island.
We all know how difficult and time consuming that can be, though. You have to find the island, arrange a viewing, and then do a whole lot of boring paperwork before it’s really yours.
Real world problems. It’s a daily struggle.
Luckily, there’s now a website that’s taking the stress out of spending millions on cars, yachts, clothes and islands. Just click ‘add to cart’ and you’re one step closer to being parted from your cash and in possession of some very expensive things.
New digital luxury marketplace Hush Hush has launched to the public with over 200 000 items, few of which are below the million dollar price bracket.
The site is calling itself “Amazon for millionaires”, reports The Telegraph.
Most conspicuous (and top of the price list) are the private islands and properties. Pumpkin Key Private Island in Florida Keys, is listed at £95 million, but there are also a number of items, like fashion and jewellery, at more accessible price points.
29-year-old CEO Aaron Harpin, who lives between London and Monaco, is not-so-quietly confident. “It’s a solution for the cash rich, time poor. For millionaires and billionaires,” he says.
Harpin says that he’s had a number of sales since the launch with one customer dropping £100 000 on a hovercraft.
Aiming for the ‘real space’ beyond fashion, Harpin believes by housing everything from homes to furniture and private jets in one location – like on Amazon – he’s looking at a trillion-dollar opportunity.
It’s in cutting the traditional route of shopping around agents in order to purchase ultra luxury items, in favour of more instant digital alternatives, that he sees the gap in the market.
As for the ultra-high-value items, people can “add them to cart” or meet up with a sales agent at the property who will take them on a tour, and connect them to the relevant lawyer. The transaction is initiated on the site, but they hold your hand through the process.
For a website that sells ultra-luxury goods, though, it’s a little difficult to navigate. The constant pop-up asking one to subscribe to their newsletter made me want to throw my laptop across the room, too.
That said, if you’re super rich and want to low-key buy a helicopter, I’m sure it’s useful.
Why not dream big and have a little dig around the Hush Hush site?
