Four high school kids have been suspended from Hoërskool President in Ridgeway, Jozi, after a video of a fight emerged on social media showing a schoolyard fight.

This is yet another case of students doing something that they shouldn’t be doing, and then posting it on the internet for everyone to see.

Not smart. I’m seriously concerned about the state of our education system, and the desire to ‘go viral’.

TimesLIVE reports that the fight happened on Tuesday and the learners involved were suspended the same day.

Apparently, nobody knows what caused the fight.

At the start of the video, the beaten learner is holding a belt above his head.

[Gauteng education MEC Panyaza] Lesufi said according to preliminary information “the victim was the one that first attacked.”

“The report says the victim took the belt off prior to the video being taken.”

The school has set down a disciplinary hearing for Thursday, January 31.

“We need to get to the source of the fight,” Lesufi said.

Yep. the guy who started the fight got himself knocked out. If the students are found guilty at the disciplinary hearing, they will be expelled.

So bad life choices all around, then.
