As long as it’s not the team you support on the receiving end, a comical own goal can be a thing of beauty.
Last year we showed you a few shockers, and it hasn’t taken long for 2019 to throw another absurd effort our way.
This one comes from last night’s PSL action between Kaizer Chiefs and AmaZulu in Durban. Chiefs ran out 3-2 victors, but it is the own goal by AmaZulu defender Marc van Heerden that’s the big talking point.
Added bonus – this took place within the first 20 seconds of kick-off, which takes some doing.

Superb.
In van Heerden’s defence, he did score a goal for his own team in stoppage time, although it was nothing more than a consolation effort.
A shout out also goes to Cape Town City, who climbed to fourth place on the log with a whopping 5-0 win at home against lowly Free State Stars.
