In a trend that started last year, South Africans are continuing to outwit, outsmart and outlast criminals in the urban jungle.
From wrecking their own cars to displaying some mad driving skills, people are not handing their vehicles over without a fight.
The first failed hijacking video of the year comes courtesy of CCTV footage captured in Morningside, Johannesburg.
The incident occurred when the driver of a Range Rover drove up to a complex, with some unwelcome company in tow.
Take a look:
You’ve got to appreciate the panic when the hijackers realise that they’re trapped.
According to TimesLIVE, Police are now investigating a case of “pointing of firearm”.
“The driver said she came from a shopping centre and while she waited for the gate to open at her complex, a silver SUV pulled up behind her,” said police spokesperson Capt Granville Meyer.
“Four guys jumped out of the vehicle, one with a firearm in his hands who pointed it at her. When she noticed this she drove through the gate,” said Meyer.
The car was damaged in the incident and the police were contacted immediately. The investigation is ongoing.
Stay safe out there.
