I always think it’s hilarious when companies release a product and label it “new and improved”. What, you’re going to make it worse when you redesign the thing?
In the case of Apple, every redesign and new release they roll out is picked apart in great detail, and that’s often the case well before the product has even hit the market.
The dust has hardly settled on the release of the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max And Apple Watch, and already attention has turned towards the iPhone XI / iPhone 11.
9to5Mac with those details, many of which came to light after financial giants Barclays began tipping off investors:
…the new iPhone would feature three cameras on the back, in a particularly strange aesthetic arrangement, housed in a huge camera square bump. The middle of the three cameras is positioned out of line with the other two, and the camera is offset above…
Three cameras may help take better photos, enabling the device to collect more light and color information, or could have applications for augmented reality. It is possible that the third lens is a depth sensor rather than a standard RGB camera lens.
I guess we are well beyond the stage now where you should think about flogging your digital camera, because they’re just being rendered obsolete.
Also, you can trade your older iPhones, iPods and Apple Watches in at Digicape, South Africa’s largest independent Apple retailers, and get credit towards a new purchase, if you’re keen to upgrade on that front.
Back with Forbes, who said the leak “Accidentally Reveals Radical New iPhone”:
Barclays reveals Apple will also integrate new antenna technology across all its new iPhones. The report doesn’t break down how this will be done, but a switch from liquid crystal polymer antennas to a modified PI approach has been discussed. The repercussions would be a more reliable signal and/or faster data…
Great, except for the fact that South African cellphone companies charge such ridiculous prices for data in this country.
Another anticipated change that came via the leak:
Building its antenna tech, Barclays understands that Apple will introduce next-generation WiFi 6 (aka 802.11ax) on the iPhone XI as well. WiFi 6 is not only faster but more efficient which aids battery life.
More battery life for the win.
I guess now we just wait until the next leak to fill in a few gaps.
For now, if you want to see what the latest Apple gadgets will set you back, you’ll find the full range of iPhones, iPods, Apple Watches and other goodies over on Digicape.
Perhaps it’s time to upgrade to the iPhone XS?
Go on, join the revolution.
