Sometimes things have a way of coming back to you.
Losing your wallet, phone or sunglasses is usually the worst, because you just know, somehow, that they’re gone forever.
Actress Diane Keaton lost her wallet 50 years ago and assumed she’d never see it again. In fact, she forgot about it until a post on social media by Anton Lulgjuraj alerted her to its whereabouts.
It all began with an abandoned storage locker.
Here’s NewsAU:
Anton Lulgjuraj told the New York Daily Newshe bought the storage locker in Brewster, New York, at an auction in May and was going through its treasures when he came across a pocketbook and photographs. Inside the wallet was a California’s driver’s license from 1966 that belonged to a woman named Diane Hall.
Lulgjuraj told the Daily News the woman’s name did not appear to be familiar but her photo looked like an actor in the 1972 film The Godfather. (The actor changed her name from Hall to her mother’s maiden name of Keaton as there was already a Diane Hall in the Actors Guild.)
When he looked at more of the wallet’s contents he found Keaton’s Actor’s Equity card, and decided to return the wallet to her.
“These are her memories,” he said.
Keaton was thrilled to get the wallet back, posting about it on Instagram:
Lulgjuraj has now sent the wallet back to Keaton and is reportedly “thrilled” to be able to return the lost property to the actress.
“I’m really happy that she’s going to get it back. The US mail should get it there. I just hope it doesn’t get lost for another 50 years,” he said. “I hope it arrives in time for the holidays.”
Seeing as though they’re not using the SA Post Office, it should.
The mystery behind how the wallet made it into the abandoned storage container, to begin with, remains unsolved.
