This story has been updated with a second angle of Santa’s spectacular boat bail at Bakoven…
A happy Santa, commisioned by the National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI), arrived on Cape Town shores to bring happiness to a group of children.
Unfortunately, he didn’t have his sea legs, and his attempt to disembark from the boat didn’t go as planned.
You’re going to want to see this one for yourself, so I’ll hold off on all the details but one: Santa gets out of this unscathed, so you don’t have to feel bad about laughing at him.

The best part is the HO HO HO’s followed by that “Whoooooa!” as he bails head first off the bow. Here’s News24:
The skipper of the boat can be seen giggling to the camera, followed by gleeful laughter from the children on the shore.
Fortunately, Santa emerged unhurt, raising his arms in triumph after the humorous moment.
It was a good thing the National Sea Rescue Institute was around, as Santa got the best rescue attention he could have wanted in the shallow Bakoven waters.
I get the feeling that skipper is getting a lump of coal in his stocking this year.
UPDATE: Turns out there’s another angle of Santa’s little accident, filmed by none other than Percival Montgomery himself.
Yes indeed, Monty was on the scene and shared this…
Yeah, he sure did take it like a champ.
