I am here for anything that involves Michelle Obama.

The former first lady of the USA was in London recently, where she met with Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle.

The conversation between two of the world’s most influential women followed Michelle’s sell-out speech at the Royal Festival Hall, which Meghan attended.

Following the speech, Meghan and Michelle had a private “power meeting”.

They spoke at length about the importance of supporting and empowering women across all cultures and communities.

They also talked about shared experiences of pregnancy and raising children, plus shared causes including girls’ education.

The two have apparently formed a close bond and plan on staying in contact.

As an aside, that places Meghan at one degree of separation from Beyoncé – just saying.

Prince Harry has met the Obamas on a number of occasions. In 2015 he visited America to promote the Invictus Games and last year Harry interviewed Barack Obama in his role as guest editor of BBC Radio 4’s Today programme.

The meeting followed hot on the heels of Michelle’s sage advice, directed at Meghan, about coping with her public role in an interview with Good Housekeeping magazine.

Meghan is due to become royal patron to a number of London charities in the new year, and Michelle had a few things to say about that.
