If you haven’t been woken up at ungodly hours by a hadeda ibis, are you even South African?
The African Fish Eagle might be more iconic, but it’s hard to go a full day without hearing that distinct squawking. Just ask American musical superstar Pharrell Williams, who was in town for the Global Citizen Festival.
He still had a better time than those poor souls who fell victim to the slew of muggings and violent crimes outside the FNB Stadium, but it’s clear he is not a fan of our feathered friends.
A shout out to The Kiffness for capturing this one from Pharrell’s Instagram Story. At the time of writing, the story is still up on Pharrell’s page, but it should disappear shortly.
Enter the hadeda:

Magical.
At least he had good things to say about the Global Citizen Festival itself:
Now all he needs is to be hit by load shedding and he’s got the full South African experience down.
