Supercars are known for being fast and expensive.
Unfortunately, if you crash one while engaging in the former, the latter becomes a serious problem.
Remember that woman who totalled a R2 million BMW? This is worse.
A red Ferrari 488 Spider, which was launched in South Africa in 2016 and is valued at more than R5 million, was written off in Houghton, Jozi, over the weekend.
The driver lost control due to high speed outside the Houghton Golf Course, reports News24.
It is powered by the 488 coupé’s 3902cc turbo-charged V8, which punches out a maximum of 492kW and a maximum of 760Nm.
This sports car boasts swift acceleration times: 0 to 100km/h in 3 seconds and to 200km/h in 8.7sec.
It uses a retractable hardtop roof that can be raised or lowered in 14 seconds; even when the car is moving. It’s priced from R5.5m.
None of these features did anything to stop the idiot who was driving from speeding, or get them any sympathy on social media:
Yes, apparently the images of the expensive car in ruin were so distressing that Twitter hid them behind a ‘sensitive content’ warning.
Ouch – I’m pretty sure the driver is going to be feeling that damage in more ways than one.
