Robotics is advancing way too fast for my comfort levels. This week’s episode of the Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon dedicated an entire segment to robots, starting with a robot dog that moves too quickly and looks like it could kill you in under 30 seconds if it wanted to.
Then he moved onto an interview with Sophia – the world’s creepiest robot, who now has a little sister reminiscent of Chucky and a credit card. I say ‘the world’s creepiest robot’ but to be fair she (it?) has some serious competition from these human replacement robots.
To make things worse it can sing now, and does. Never one to miss an opportunity to do a duet, Fallon invited the thing to sing A Great Big World’s ‘Say Something’.
Unfortunately, we couldn’t embed the video, but you can watch it by clicking on the image below:
Skip ahead to 7:11 to witness the world’s creepiest duet. You meet ‘Little Sophia’, the doll from your nightmares at around 6:30. Huffington Post called the duet “sweet, but at the same time also a bit disturbing”. I’m calling it – it’s just disturbing.
There’s nothing sweet about it. Here’s the original song for comparison purposes:
Oh, and did I mention that Sophia has Twitter now?
Thank you for having us @FallonTonight and @jimmyfallon! I had so much fun singing and catching up with you! #FallonTonight #SophiaonFallon pic.twitter.com/2mq2mnYi4B
