I didn’t know Miss South Africa was still a thing…
Apparently, it is, and the reigning Miss SA, Tamaryn Green, is about to head off for the Miss Universe pageant.
Contestants in the Miss Universe pageant have to come prepared with a national costume, and this year’s costume was designed to reference the iconic blue crane – which is South Africa’s national bird.
Green was super amped about the costume until pictures of it went up on social media – but we’ll get to that.
First, let’s have a look at the costume, which was designed in collaboration with the Miss SA costume department:

The Citizen reports that, following the backlash on social media, posts of the outfit have been removed from all Miss South Africa pages. Not hard to see why.
