Piers Morgan is a sorry excuse for a human being.
I was going to write “sorry excuse for a journalist”, but that would imply that he’s a journalist.
What Morgan does isn’t journalism. Some idiot gave him a public platform at some point, and he’s used it ever since to broadcast his unsolicited opinions about women. His triggers include naked bodies, and women who talk back to him (or just talk).
He also likes to tell women, like Tess Holliday, how they actually feel.
In this month’s attempts to stay relevant, he’s feuding with girl group Little Mix (naked bodies – check), Ellen (women who talk – check) and consequently, Ariana Grande.
On Good Morning Britain, Morgan attacked the picture of Little Mix naked with insults scrawled across their bodies, stating “What is empowering about this? I mean seriously—get your kit off, airbrush yourself to within one inch of your lives and put a bunch of horrible words on yourself”.
Little Mix responded by calling him a twat on the radio.
Ellen also posted a satirical video for International Men’s Day, which upset Morgan:
I did a montage celebrating men. #InternationalMensDay @idriselba @chrishemsworth @RyanGosling pic.twitter.com/0BgPuiroC6
— Ellen DeGeneres (@TheEllenShow) November 19, 2018
Morgan had a big SAD about the video on Twitter:
Then the Grande family got involved.
Here’s The Daily Beast:
Family matriarch Joan Grande fired up her iPad and decided to spark a worldwide mini-scandal, tweeting, “Honestly what is wrong with you @piersmorgan?” She continued, “Didn’t your mother ever teach you, if you have nothing nice to say, don’t say it! You came for @TheEllenShow yesterday which was disgraceful, she is an angel. @LittleMix today, did you ever hear of paying homage? And..well never mind.”
Morgan, who is not above getting in a Twitter spat with someone’s mom, responded with the following:
“Hi Joan, my mother taught me to speak my mind & never be afraid to express honestly held opinion. Ellen’s a hypocrite—and as for Little Mix, I’d just prefer they use their talent to sell records rather than their nudity. As your own daughter does…!”
Ariana Grande then decided that she had had enough of this, and tweeted the following:
My apologies for subjecting you to the above image again.
And while I get her point, I wouldn’t exactly call that picture of Piers sexy. It’s something – I’m not sure what – but it’s something…
Perhaps the best part of Grande’s takedown is “thank you, next” at the end of the tweet.
This definitive takedown is a beautiful product of the thank u, next era. It all started not so long ago, when Ariana Grande began dating and then quickly got engaged to SNL’s Pete Davidson. Their whirlwind romance touched us all, introducing big dick energy into the national lexicon and giving us memes for days. Unfortunately for the comic, the red flags against Davidson quickly started piling up (not funny, said weird things about Grande on TV, proposed after just a month of dating). Eventually, Grande had to ask herself the age-old question: Is he the love of my life, or just 6’2”?
Long story short, they broke up and Grande responded to the whole saga with a song called ‘Thank You, Next’. Listen:
It’s the perfect burn because you sound polite while basically telling someone they’re out of your life forever.
If only it was that easy to actually get rid of Piers Morgan.
