Secret Santa is one of those things that can either be kinda fun or awkward AF.
Sadly, it’s often the latter. You’re assigned a limited budget and a random colleague. If you don’t know them very well, then it’s desk plant time.
Boring. You’re better than that, and don’t go the bottle of booze route, either.
There’s also the fun of opening your less-than-thrilling gift, which does nothing, but leave you wondering how people in the office actually see you. Have fun mulling that one over while you’re on leave.
So where does this leave us? Well, there’s a simple solution to all of this nonsense.
Actually, two solutions, depending on how you want to go about it.
Solution 1: Replace Secret Santa with a Kiff Bru Projects registry
Kiff Bru Projects makes it easy for people to work together by gifting underfunded organisations and charities with the essentials that they need.
They focus on three important categories in South Africa: Health, Education and Animal Welfare. Kiff Bru does extensive research, and then selects one organisation per category.
They then focus specifically on their requirements for the year. This is their selection for 2018:
Whether it’s a school needing supplies for their learners, a clinic or underfunded animal shelter, Kiff Bru works with each organisation to determine what they need in order for it to improve their conditions and remain operational.
Why not bond as an office by voting on an organisation and then donating that R100 you each would have spent on Secret Santa to a good cause?
It’s good karma going into the Christmas season and a great way to make a difference. Plus you can enjoy that drink at the office party, knowing that you all did a good thing.
Added bonus – no more tension because some Secret Santa gifts were better than others.
Registration is super easy. You just visit the Kiff Bru site, click the ‘create a registry’ button and set it up.
Your company registry will feature on the Kiff Bru site and you’ll be kept up to date with your progress as you raise funds.
Sorted.
Can’t get the office on board because they’re all terrible people? Here’s solution two:
Donate on behalf of a colleague
Let’s face it, one more desk plant and you’ll need a machete to cut a path to your next meeting with that colleague.
The process is simple:
Pretty basic, right? It’s an easy secret Santa gift, that brings good vibes and spreads the love. You really can’t go wrong here, and you’re inviting some good karma to guide you through until the end of the work year.
