Yes, that headline is a mark of just how farcical South African politics has become.
Let’s start with the Malusi Gigaba versus Julius Malema beef, which centres on the Minister of Home Affairs’ sex tape.
Zapiro has already stuck the knife in, and Pornhub has been critiquing Gigaba’s technique all week, and now the EFF are having their fun.
First, there’s the Juju angle, with Malema filming a video where he mocks Gigaba.
This, from News24, about sums it up:
Pro tip – if you don’t want to look like a frog, don’t film from below.
Malema has denied accusations that he was drunk at the party, saying they were attempts to distract from Gigaba and his mess.
Then we fast forward to yesterday in Parliament, and more histrionics from the EFF.
Not content with brawling with the DA and Agang (see the videos from the fist-throwing here), they also took to mocking Gigaba.
Here’s the gist of the argument, via TimesLIVE:
EFF’s spokesperson Mbuyiseni Ndlozi asked the president if cabinet members should be issued phones without cameras.
“It will save us from some of the embarrassing activities – it doesn’t have a camera, it can’t even be hacked,” said Ndlozi.
Ndlozi was having himself some fun, and Gigaba responds around the 40-second mark:
Or, if you prefer things in succinct form, this tweet:
That’s a sitting minister, and the spokesperson of the country’s third biggest political party (or second if you go on these numbers), comparing dick sizes inside Parliament.
Keep this up, and it might turn into a mass debate.
To finish, here’s Zapiro with his follow-up Gigaba effort on the Daily Maverick:
