Just when you think Donald Trump can’t surprise you…
In a normal functioning democracy, where there is an adult in charge and you’re not pandering to an infantile voter base, something as serious as sanctions against another country is announced via a press release, or a prepared statement read out by an elected government official.
In Trump’s America, though, everything is about ratings and crowd size and cliffhangers, so I suppose the announcement of sanctions against Iran should be no different.

In response, HBO was left a little bemused. as CNBC reports:
In a statement to CNBC, HBO said, “We were not aware of this messaging and would prefer our trademark not be misappropriated for political purposes.”
…Asked if HBO planned to take legal action, network spokesman Jeff Cusson told CNBC there were “no further steps.”
