At this stage in his career, Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather should have enough dosh for 10 lifetimes.
You get the feeling that he is driven largely by the desire to make more, though, and his latest cash-in will see him fight 20-year-old Tenshin Nasukawa (on the right in the below image), a 27-0 kickboxing and MMA sensation from Japan.
The fight will take place on December 31 at the famous Saitama Super Arena, as part of Japanese promotion RIZIN’s show.
Here’s Fox Sports:
The match has been dubbed a ‘Super Challenge’ bout with the rules yet to be confirmed.
RIZIN is run by many of the minds behind PRIDE FC, a now-defunct promotion from the late 1990s and early 2000s beloved by many MMA fans…
“I want to continue to build my relationship with Money Team Tokyo,” Mayweather said in a press conference in Japan on Monday.
“I want to continue coming over here and bringing other fighters over here so my company can continue to grow and RIZIN can continue to grow.
“I would love to continue to work with RIZIN because RIZIN is an unbelievable company, and my company, we’ve been making some huge fights happen in the US, but we look forward to taking the Mayweather Promotions banner and the TMT banner worldwide. And if it takes working with a great guy like this, there’s no problem.”
In summary – money.
I’m not sure if this is legit the official promo video for the fight, but here you go:
