Remember Matthew Dippel?
He’s the photographer who captured the perfect engagement shot at Yosemite National Park.
Realising that his picture was perfect, he sent out on a social media quest to find the newly engaged couple, so that he could gift them the gorgeous image (above).
After thousands of people all over the world shared his post, a few people came forward claiming to be the couple in the picture – but none of them matched the timeline.
Now, after weeks of searching, he was contacted by Charlie Bear, who says that he and his now-fiance Melissa (below) stumbled on the post on Instagram last week.
Here’s CNN:
“At first, I wasn’t really sure it was us to be honest,” Bear said. But they compared Dippel’s photo with pictures they had taken to make sure.
Dippel was a little skeptical, at first, because he’d gotten tons of messages from people claiming to be the couple, so he asked them to prove it.
“They sent me over iPhone screen shots of some of their friends that were up on that point that day, and they are wearing the exact same thing, and the photos are timestamped on the exact same day and the same time that I was there,” Dippel said. “It just perfectly matched up to Charlie and Melissa.”
Dippel is still working out how to get the couple a print of the photo. In the meantime, he shared the good news with his Facebook followers:
Bear has revealed that Dippel actually captured his second proposal to Melissa. He had asked her to marry him in February, but wanted to do the second proposal in a memorable and personal way.
Mission accomplished, especially after Dippel accidentally got involved.
“Even though this was the second time around I was just as nervous as the first time, and I was even more nervous being high up on the cliff,” Bear said. “I have a fear of heights, and I kind of overcame that for her.”
Charlie and Melissa are planning an April wedding in Malibu, California.
As long as they stay away from the Congo, everything should be fine.
Congrats!
