There’s a phrase doing the rounds in the Cape Town music scene: Shut up and listen.
This is the idea behind the sit-down-and-enjoy performance “This is Wooden Music“, featuring two of Cape Town’s best-loved acoustic folk acts: Hatchet Man and Jenny and the Jameses.
We spoke to Hatchet Man last week about Cape Town music and where to listen live.
The four members of Hatchet Man combine their prodigious musical and vocal talents to form a band that, as the name suggests, cuts straight to the heart with songs on life, love, and most things in between.
Their sound has been compared to Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young due to their signature style – a blending of vocal harmonies and paired down musical stylings.
Hatchet Man is joining forces with Jenny and the Jameses, a band in the Celtic genre.
Effortlessly spanning a century’s worth of music, Mssrs Hall and Harvey bring ancient Celtic and folk melodies into the contemporary space facilitated by Jenny’s unique and evocative songwriting.
The Nassau Theatre is the perfect venue for these bands to work their magic. The amphitheatre design ensures that every chord and nuance of the music will be perfectly relayed.
