Warning – this post deals with stupid people, Instagram, and the word “wanderlust”.
I’m just going to jump right in, because no amount of banter will cushion this one.
Back in 2017, an unconventional wedding shoot hit the web, when a white couple staged their wedding pics to look like a Congolese kidnapping.
Read that again and let it sink in – people actually did this.
To top it all off, the bride is wearing blood diamonds, reports OkayAfrica.
Let’s start with the ring. The ring-bearer carried it on his gun.
The 2017 pics were reposted by Cecilia Christin, who said that she wanted to foster debate and conversation amongst her friends and followers about the “accessorization [sic] of black bodies for this couple’s photo shoot,” and how the couple uses “black and brown people, and their experiences, as props to gain a following” on Instagram.
Note the hashtags.
Here are some more images from the shoot, featuring the “hostage takers”.
The Instagram account that originally showcased the shoot has been taken down, but the groom/photographer who captured the event, John Milton, posted his wedding and his honeymoon on a photography website.
Idiocy loves company so naturally, these people have friends who absolutely loved the shoot:
I have no words for the level of ignorance on display here, so here’s social media with some appropriate responses:
The absurdity of the pics have people questioning whether or not they’re real.
Sadly, much like Donald Trump in the White House, this is real, and it’s very, very bad.
