South Africans are still reeling from the massive fuel price hike at the start of October.
R17 a litre, hey – we all knew that day would come, but we had no idea it would come so soon.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but it looks like November will see another hike, with the AA saying that petrol prices are currently set for a 40 cents-per-litre increase, while diesel and illuminating paraffin may increase by as much as 70 cents and 65 cents respectively.
It’s all getting a little ridiculous, so why don’t we join in with this video, filmed on Grayston Drive in Sandton this past Sunday.
Intelligence Bureau shared the video to Facebook, saying “nothing serious just some guys on there way to Sandton via Grayston drive on a trolley”.
Just a few guys, out for a spin:
In the comments section, some praised their ingenuity and bravery, whilst others berated them and called for them to be arrested.
The reality, of course, is that we shouldn’t make fun of these men, because they actually provide an invaluable service. They’re what Fin24 recently dubbed “waste pickers”, and are the “true ecowarriors of the throw-away age”.
Yeah, buy a second bin and recycle properly or hou jou bek.
