Australia’s eighth richest billionaire, James Packer, wanted to be closer to his ex-wife, Mariah Carey and their kids, so he dropped some cash on a house.
This isn’t any old house, though. It was previously owned by Danny DeVito and Rhea Perlman, who then sold it to developers who transformed it into the ultimate spy pad.
There’s a library with a bookcase that opens up to reveal a secret bathroom, and the cinema has a moveable wall for quick getaways.
No word on whether Daniel Craig is going to visit with his child in a papoose, causing a Piers Morgan meltdown.
Here’s Forbes talking up what they call a “James Bond-Style Mansion”:
Packer purchased the house for a reported $60 million from prolific LA developers Stuart and Stephanie Liner who are known for bringing meticulous details to each design decision associated with their projects.
For this one, they added an immense amount of square footage (so much that it took the photographer Joe Bryant and his crew four days to shoot the entire property) and they brought an art deco, cutting edge feel to every room. Mirrored accent walls are a common theme—even the vent over the kitchen stove is mirrored.
Let’s take a look at what $60 million (around R855 million) can get you in Los Angeles:
In case you were wondering this is, in fact, a hair salon:
The cylindrical tube in the middle of the room is an elevator that goes down to the master closet. Which is so much more than just one closet.
Packer split from Carey in 2016, and recently stepped down as director from a number of directorships and boards, citing mental health issues.
Parker has also been under a lot of stress lately after being cited as a witness in a bribery allegation against Israeli Prine Minister Benjamin Netanahyu.
At least his new crash pad has a ton of escape routes if things get too crazy.
