I’m constantly amazed by the things people post to Facebook.
I mean, I find the pictures of food and professing of undying love and the humblebrags pretty sad, but it’s the posts that are so obviously going to cause havoc that really take the cake.
[Side note – why don’t we ever get the lowdown when those Facebook-perfect relationships unravel? We’ve had to endure hundreds of happy couples snaps, but then y’all break up, the pictures are deleted, and we must pretend it never happened?]
Anyway, back to the drama in Kommetjie, which centres on a post to the Kommetjie Kommunity Facebook page yesterday. If Facebook has taught us anything, it’s that you want to exercise caution when posting to these ‘community’ groups.
Clearly, Shaun Kallis never got that memo, and this post below was never going to end well:
OK, just to recap – he hopped off his scooter and gave somebody else’s child a beating, and then threw in a little #justsaying at the end.
Sadly, the group is private, so we cannot see all of the responses to the post, but we were sent a picture that included some of the initial responses.
Those were as follows:
Yeah, that’s pretty much what it’s called.
In response to the first of those, Kallis hit back:
I think you’ll find many parents disagree with you on the “right thing” part.
This is Kommetjie, man. There are little grommets running around misbehaving (or sending threatening voice notes to paddleboarders), but you can’t take it upon yourself to play headmaster.
In addition, in what world do you think parents are going to accept strangers giving their kids a hiding? This is 2018, and people will argue about anything on Facebook, so this guy has really shot himself in the foot.
I don’t know what other mayhem has occurred on this post since yesterday, but I’m sure it was a bloodbath.
