Hurricane Michael is getting stronger as it transitions into a post-tropical storm.
It’s still generating life-threatening flash flooding and damaging winds causing mass destruction in portions of North Carolina and the southern mid-Atlantic states, killing an estimated six people so far.
In Stefan Melendez’s neighbourhood, however, things were pretty chilled.
Mashable reports that when Hurricane Michael passed over Melendez on Wednesday afternoon, “he stepped into the temporarily tranquil Florida environment and saw blue skies above”.
Melendez captured the footage during a Facebook Live video, soon after Category 4 Hurricane Michael — packing 155 mph winds — became the third-strongest cyclone to make landfall in U.S. history.
Check it out:
Following this video, Melendez has driven out to the Florida Panhandle to chase the storm.
The storm is now the most powerful hurricane on record to strike the state.
