Sequins, jazz hands, too much make-up and now a scandal.

If reality dance shows are your thing, then you’re probably a fan of the UK’s version of Strictly Come Dancing. 

The show was watchable before, but in true reality-TV style, it managed to get even more entertaining when Seann Walsh and his professional dance partner Katya Jones got hot and heavy in an alleyway, despite both being in relationships outside of the show.

Naturally, because we don’t already have enough to deal with when it comes to Brexit, Trump, SA’s assassinations and climate change, everyone has turned full attention to the infidelity and consequences of the dance couples not-so-secret tryst.

Few will have heard of comedian Seann Walsh, 32, before the current furore. Friends of his ex-girlfriend Becky Humphries say that although it has been a devastating blow, it’s not exactly unexpected.

The comedian was unceremoniously dumped by his girlfriend of five years Becky (with Seann below) after the video of him snogging Katya did the rounds. She’s also taking their cat with her, and she isn’t sorry about it.

Apparently, Seann gets drunk and behaves badly, had a bad home life, struggles to control his actions – the usual excuses.

Seann is clearly a scumbag, but he wasn’t alone in the whole cheating thing. His dance partner cheated on her significant other as well.

Katya is the daughter of a millionaire energy executive and has been unstintingly supported in her quest for fame by her Russian family — not to mention her smitten husband, fellow professional dancer Neil Jones.

He described her this year as ‘crazy, creative, smart, loving and bossy’.

Born Ekaterina Sokolova, she is from Sestroretsk, a health spa resort on the Gulf of Finland, on the edge of St Petersburg.

Father Andrey is an energy executive for a company linked to behemoth Gazprom, and studied law at Leningrad State University — like Vladimir Putin. Her mother Tatiana Kim is Korean, has a degree in architecture and civil engineering and a reputation as a forceful character

Her husband, Neil Jones, responded to the scandal by posting an Instagram message praising his wife’s dancing on the show, followed by a picture of him naked and reclining on some rocks.

It’s a choice. It’s a weird choice, but I guess everyone has their own way of dealing with things.

Following rumours that the dance couple might be booted from the show, it has now been revealed that they’re going to stick it out.

Their first dance together as a cheating duo will be a “jaunty charleston”, known for involving very little body contact.

Not surprising really – drama makes for good TV.
