33-year-old Viviana Frizzi has a pretty decent job.
Frizzi, who hails from the Lake Como region, is the personal chef for Amal and George Clooney at their home in Italy (that’s all three of them above), so she’s well equipped to describe what the average week’s dinner schedule looks like.
You have to admire the honesty of George, who openly admits that neither he nor his wife can cook very well. According to PEOPLE, it isn’t worth bothering:
“Honestly, Amal and I are such poor chefs that any lesson from Vivi in the kitchen would be like teaching a whale to fly,” says the actor…”Besides all of our friends would rather eat her food than hit up a local restaurant in Como or in London.”
…George tells PEOPLE magazine that Viviani “can make anything, including handmade gnocchi with pesto that would make you cry”.
Why would you cook when you can just hire a personal chef to knock it out of the park, with a pesto gnocchi that brings you to the point of tears?
Here’s a look at what an average week’s menu looks like:
The couple dine on pizza one night a week and their favourite is a margherita with rocket salad, according to the chef. However, the gifted culinary artist doesn’t confine herself to Italian risottos and she can also produce mouth-watering sushi, Lebanese and Indian dishes.
It seems that the couple’s 16-month-old twins, Ella and Alexander are partial to salmon, tomato risotto, margherita pizza and ricotta with raspberries…
“The twins are not fussy eaters,” says Frizzi…“When they like a dish, they put their little fingers on their cheeks, smile and say, Mmm!”
Considering that most of us grow up eating our mother’s cooking (no offence, ma), rather than that of a professional chef, those twins better be bloody happy with their food.
Homemade sushi is always a good time (although you’ll be hard-pressed to beat the Pick n Pay in Constantia Village for value – just ask Seth), and anybody with a Lebanese friend kind enough to cook for them will agree that they have a good thing going on.
My only qualm with all of this is that of all the pizzas the Clooneys could munch on, they choose a margherita? Far be it from me to knock any kind of pizza (unless it has pineapple or mustard, because then it must die), but I always appreciate a little something extra on top.
The same goes for Seth – the Rotherham from Butler’s comes with bacon, feta and salami, but sets itself apart by using a thinner base and less mozzarella.
To each their own, because I’m prone to wolfing down the ever-popular Funky Fabb (feta, avo, bacon and Butleritos), although I will mix it up with a Big Cheese Blue when I’m feeling fancy.
I may well channel my inner Clooney tonight, given that Butler’s have a ‘Buy two and get the third pizza FREE’ special running on Mondays.
