Most of the time we mention Trevor Noah, it’s to do with The Daily Show, where he pokes fun at America and the buffoon running the show.
That’s fine with us, but it’s always lekker to be reminded that he hasn’t forgotten his roots, which is evident from his new 13-part comedy show, Trevor Noah Presents NationWild.
The show, which is now streaming exclusively on Showmax, showcases of South Africa’s brightest young comedians.
Those include 2018 Comics’ Choice Next Level winner Phil de Lange and Best Newcomer winner Tsitsi Chiumya; 2018 nominees Bongani Dube, Eric Jansen, Gilli Apter and Lindy Johnson; 2017 Best Intermediate nominees Noko Moswete and Mo Mothebe; and 2016 Comics’ Choice Breakthrough Comic Award winner Virgil Prins (aka Prins).
We shouldn’t forget rising stars like Gavin Kelly, Keenan Cerff, Kraai Du Toit and Mbu Msongwela.
The format of each episode is dope – it features a short introductory set by Trevor as the host, an interview with the featured comedian about their ladder to success, followed by that comedian’s set.
Let’s check out the official trailer:
Who knows, maybe one of these comedians could go on to worldwide fame and acclaim, much like Trevor.
You can find all episodes on Showmax, which is great news for DStv subscribers, who can add Showmax to their bouquet for free.
