Without pets, the world would be a far sadder place.
Oh, and Instagram would just be average sunsets, babies, and models in various stages of undress with fake deep quotes underneath them.
We see you.
Then there is Facebook, and those truly terrible videos that do the rounds. Just this week I’ve seen a dog being abused with a blowtorch – we’re not going to link to it, but you probably know what we’re talking about.
Sharing these videos does get the word out, and maybe people can give themselves a pat on the back for “doing their bit”, but how much difference are these shares actually making?
The bottom line is that animals deserve to be treated humanely, and right around the country underfunded organisations do what they can on a shoestring budget.
Feel like being kiff this week, or the next time a friend’s birthday rolls around? How about this; instead of buying them a bottle of booze, or something that will get stuck in a cupboard drawer to gather dust, you donate to a charity in their name?
Take the Animal Anti-Cruelty League Cape Town (AACL-CT), for example, the charitable organisation established back in 1969.
Kiff Bru Projects have put together a wishlist of things that the AACL needs, ranging from the Cat Essentials Package through to the Dinner for Dogs Package:
Look at that cat in the bottom left. I want it.
Here’s what the Cat Essentials Package entails:
Every cat deserves a blanket and a scratching post.
The AACL-CT attends to 54 000 animals a year, and also operates a mobile clinic seven times a week to assist communities with primary health care.
In short, they need our help, and helping is really, really easy. You can see the full AACL-CT wishlist, and make a donation, here.
Here’s an idea – the next time your animal-loving friend, or the person in the office who won’t stop talking about their pets, has a birthday, you make a Kiff Bru registry in their name.
It takes a minute or two to set up, and then you send the link to people and they buy a gift, or make a donation, on that person’s behalf.
There will be tears, and that’s OK. We’re all friends here – let it out.
Kiff Bru Projects also supports other needy causes. These include the Maitland Cottage Hospital, which provides medical care to children, and the Ukama Community Foundation, which aids in the education of needy children.
You just pick which product to support, make a donation or create a registry, and give yourself a pat on the back for being kiff.
The world needs more people like you.
